ANS is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 and working in the field of social research, community development, advocacy and training for informal carers. ANS periodically holds classes for informal carers and has developed the first e-learning course for family carers available in Italy. Every year ANS trains approximately 150 carers across Italy. ANS also runs an online community dedicated to informal carers and has developed a number of research projects focusing on working carers (Dalia), former carers (Life After Care), validation of carers’ competences (Care Talents), and young carers (ToYAC, CARE2WORK). As far as older persons and ICT competences are concerned, ANS has successfully completed the UISEL project (aimed to teach to seniors the use of mobile devicese) and regularly runs ICT courses for seniors. ANS advocacy activities recently led to the approval of a new law in the region of Emilia Romagna regarding recognition of the role of carers.
