The Italian National Centre on Health and Science on Aging (INRCA) is the Italian leading Public Institute in gerontology and geriatrics. INRCA is classified as an IRCCS (Institute for Scientific Research and Care, funded by the Ministry of Health) dedicated to developing high standard and translational research in the biomedical and health services organization area and in the delivery of highly specialized medical, nursing and long-term care for older people. INRCA accomplishes its mission through activity carried out in different centres in Italy, including four geriatrics hospitals, an Alzheimer day centre, a nursing home and a scientific-technological area dedicated to basic and applied research. Research topics cover four integrated areas: Bio-gerontology, Clinical and Epidemiological Research, Pharmacoepidemiology and Economic and Social Research. Within INRCA, the Centre for Socio-Economic Research on Ageing is devoted to gain an holistic understanding of the ageing process from a demographic, social, economic and political perspective to fully understand the condition of older people and their carers, and designing innovative care models to meet their needs. The main topics of interest are: Long Term Care, Prevention of Elder Abuse and Neglect, Support to family carers of older people, Active Ageing and New technologies to support older people and their caregivers.
