linnaeus-university_thumbLinnaeus University is one of Sweden’s newest higher education institutions, with around 31,000 students in 150 degree programmes. The Department of Health and Caring Sciences and the Swedish Family Care Competence Centre (NKA) – a national centre of excellence commissioned by the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs – are hosting a leading research team in the area of informal care and innovative technology-based solutions supporting older people and informal carers. Successful projects and initiatives for carers carried out by the team led by Prof. Elizabeth Hanson and Ass. Prof. Lennart Magnusson have been recognised at national and international levels. The aim is to stimulate the development of carer support services by acting as the link between the voluntary sector, policy, practice and research. A main focus concerns also participatory, co-design and user-centred approaches for design, development and testing activities of new solutions for providing digital health information, education and social support, especially for older adults, disabled people and family carers.
